Don’t Delay! Update your Child’s Immunization Record BEFORE School Begins

Print

As a parent, it's important to ensure your child's health – and one of the best ways you can do that is by keeping their immunizations up to date. It's especially important this time of year, with the first day of school right around the corner. If your child does not have an updated immunization record, he or she will not be able to start school on Aug. 22. So don't delay!

In May, the Austin Independent School District sent letters to parents of students who, according to records, need immunizations before starting school in the fall. If your child received a letter and has already had the shot, please take the shot record to the school nurse. If your child has not yet received the shot, please visit your child's physician or clinic. You can also contact one of the community resources attached with the letter or listed on AISD's website. The website also offers a complete listing of immunization requirements including a quick reference guide of the vaccines required for different age groups.

If you have questions about your child's immunizations or community resources or require other information, please contact your school nurse or the Children's/AISD Student Health Services Administrative Office at (512) 324-0195. For more information about AISD's vaccination program, call the "2-1-1" referral line. This toll-free number provides a list of the health and social services for your area.
